Back Stage: Let’s talk about Phantasmagoria, which is Marilyn Manson’s directorial debut.
Swinton: We’re not there yet, but I can boast about this: Marilyn Manson told me that it was because of me that he started cross-dressing. I just think that’s so fantastic. He’s just put out a new album and he’s on tour now, but he is very serious about this project. It’s about Charles Dodgson, who’s Lewis Carroll — that was his pseudonym — who wrote “Alice in Wonderland”. He’s this very interesting guy who, apart from anything else, also was an early pioneer of photography. It’s set in the Victorian era. Manson is a very visual artist, and he knows the subject inside out. He’s written this really interesting script about [Dodgson] and his life and his dream life. He’s invited me to play his dream wife, so we’ll see. I’m very used to these projects taking a hundred years to develop.

この映画への出演交渉の途上でマンソンはエヴァンと知り合いました。他の出演者に関しては一切不明です。また、現在、ハリウッドの映画組合がスト中のため、映画製作は中断していますが、マンソンは、ツアー終了後の今春から夏にかけて、プラハなどの東欧で撮影を始めたいと言っています。
