Q: You’ve spoken a lot about the problem of mankind and society. What happened with Columbine is good proof of that and gave you more things to speak about. What’s the worst thing and the best thing that society has to offer?
A: I think that one of the saddest things today is the fact that artists, art and entertainment are effectively a tool of manipulation for governments, principally in the USA. The world has I think become a victim of wealth and you can see it every day more and more, due to the fact that it is an addiction to a fictional dream, to something that when you get there leaves you more hollow and sad than ever. I’m talking about consumerism and the manipulation of souls and consciences, which makes me think that the world is about to end.
Another things that scares me is that people today aren’t communicating, even though there are many options to do it like through Internet and cell phones. People are not really communicating and that’s why everything’s so confusing and individualistic. The only thing governments want to achieve with this shit is giving us the election of what to buy and what not; I think that the mind and spiritual freedom have been sold to the devil in the shape of Louis Vuitton or Chanel. I would never be able to create music that sounds good to the government, because that would represent making music that was shit.
So, for me, the best part of being human is when the person is simple and doesn’t attach life to material stuff or the idea of a pretended triumph through the validation of what a commercial or a TV show forces on you. That’s being still in the fight for a better world. In my case, the only thing that are for sale are my records and the tickets for my shows; my spirit, conscience and ideology are definitely not.
