ゲイリー・ニューマンが2009年のSonisphereのNINライブの舞台裏を激白しています。意図的にスローな曲ばかり聞かせてメタラーに拷問してやりたかったらしい。どこでそんなに心証を悪くしたんだ？

He tells Rock DJ Tom Russell: “I came to Sonisphere with my wife and some friends, and I brought my daughter as well because she loves Nine Inch Nails.
“I’d been talking to him a bit beforehand. The last time he did a show with Metallica, some people had given him a really hard time. It was a long way in the past but it had stuck in his mind.
“So, expecting to get a hostile reaction, he decided just to do loads and loads of slow songs – he said it was to ‘bum them out’.
“Unfortunately he misread it, because there were a lot of people there to see Nine Inch Nails. It wasn’t just the band’s fans. There were lots of people really receptive and interested in what he was going to do.
“It was slow song after slow song after slow song – and it was a shame. I did a show with them at the O2 just before they did Sonisphere, and the show they’d done was brilliant. It blew your head off. If they’d done that here, everyone would have been blown away. It’s frustrating because I love him. I think he’s an incredible person. But I think he just misread it.
I think it was a long way back but it had stuck in his mind.”
