アレかね、今まで各社との関係を穏便に清算して来なかったことも、今回の件にはいくらか関係しているのかしら。ほら、訴訟とか、名指しでの「貪欲な会社」批判とか。同様にフリーになったレディオヘッドあたりはどうなんでしょうねえ、この場合。えー、要するに、「キャメロンと3Dで撮影してライブDVDやブルーレイを出す準備をしていたが、旧譜の権利関係がクリアできなかったので結果的にオクラ入りになった」という、それだけの事です。ちなみにPHMは・・・買収があったけど、結局今どこが持ってるんだ？TDSその他はもちろんユニバーサルだろうけど。なんだかなあ。

File this one under lost opportunities.
I’m very proud of the show we’ve put together for this tour and have been working hard the last few months to find a way to capture it. I had an amazing situation lined up that would have allowed me to film the show in 3D with James Cameron’s team for a theatrical release as well as DVD / BluRay, etc. We had an extra date added to the tour that we were going to give away all the tickets for and have a filming party / thank you show.
I made two critical mistakes. One was to approach a certain record company that owns some of the song rights about producing / funding. The second was to allow said company to fuck around as usual for months before saying um… no. We then achieved the impossible by finding alternate production / funding but the timetable is too rushed to get it filmed comfortably with the remaining time left on the tour. This tour and a lot of the personnel involved finish at the end of this leg, so we can’t push filming into Jan / Feb.
Deep breath…
This was an amazing tour and production – certainly the best thing I’ve ever been involved with and likely the final tour for NIN on this scale. Thank you to those who came out to see it and forgive me for having a Kanye West moment, but this was FOR SURE the best show of the year and any bullshit end-of-the-year poll you may read in the next few weeks that says otherwise simply has it wrong. Those of you who saw it know I’m right.
The shows we have announced in 2009 and any more that may be announced will be a completely different approach with some different personnel and will likely be the last for the foreseeable future.

New image and video gallery features added to nin.com
Nin.com’s new image and video galleries aggregate media from Flickr and YouTube, allowing nin.com users to share their NIN photos, videos, artwork, and other content, which can then be organized, rated, and discussed by other fans. Your nin.com profile can now display your image and video contributions, as well.
You can browse individual galleries from every show of the 2008 tour, and soon we’ll be adding past tours as well. The goal is to have the ultimate database of NIN images and videos right here on nin.com, created and organized by the fan community.
The galleries are still in beta, but we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to start using them while we continue to enhance functionality, work out bugs, and add new features. Expect support for favorites, descriptions, comment ratings, view counts, personal galleries, feeds, and more in the coming weeks. Please read the FAQ for gallery rules and guidelines, as well as instructions for adding your media to the site.
とりあえず色々とオトナの事情があったということで。以下ひとりごと：折れるところは折れる、もう少しうまく立ち回る方法はなかったんですかねえ、無理か。それにしても今回はNIN史上最高の資金とプロダクションと人材を惜しみなく投資して作り上げたショウだっただけに、つくづく惜しまれます。ブート屋がボロ儲けできそうだな。来日はもっと（あればの話だけど）シンプルなショウになるだろうし。とりあえずユニバーサル会長さんはプライベートジェットを売り払っててくださいな。
そのユニバーサルの稼ぎ頭のアーティスト、ニーヨさんが「俺様はマンソンとコラボする」と繰り返し発言していましたが、マンソン側の代理人がそれを正式に否定したようです。

Marilyn Manson Is Not Working With Ne-Yo, Spokesperson InsistsDespite R&B hitmaker’s frequent comments about working with Manson, a rep for the shock-rocker says it’s not happening.

A couple of weeks ago, MTV News caught up with R&B hitmaker Ne-Yo on the red carpet at the American Music Awards, and he said something rather interesting ― and kind of shocking.
When asked what he’s been up to ― in the wake of the September release of his latest LP, Year of the Gentleman ― he told us he’s got a lot on his plate. Ne-Yo explained that he’s been writing for several artists and has a few collaborations in the works. He said he was excited to work with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Ciara, Michael Bolton, Mario, Monica, Leona Lewis and Lionel Richie.
And then he mentioned his upcoming musical venture with none other than Marilyn Manson, the shock-rocking controversy magnet. When pressed for details, Ne-Yo remained uncharacteristically mum.
“I have no idea what it’s going to be, because we haven’t started yet,” he told MTV News. “But I’m looking forward to just sitting in a room with him, picking his brain and figuring something out. I have no idea what its going to be yet.”
It wasn’t the first time Ne-Yo spilled the beans about his collaboration with Manson. A quick Google search turns up many interviews where Ne-Yo has discussed working with Manson, an artist he named more than a year ago when asked which artists he’d like to team up with.
“I’ve wanted to work with him for ages and his people reached out to me when they heard,” Ne-Yo told the U.K.’s Daily Star. “People might think it’s a strange collaboration, [but] I don’t.”
Well, perhaps it would have been too strange a collaboration after all.
When contacted by MTV News this week, a spokesperson for Manson said the singer, who is finishing work on the follow-up to 2007’s Eat Me, Drink Me, has not spoken to Ne-Yo or his representatives about the idea, and that he has no immediate plans to work with Ne-Yo.
Reps for Ne-Yo had not responded to MTV News’ requests for comment at press time.
